Our TUtors - Charlotte Kerr
Charlotte, French and German - UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Hello! I’m Charlotte, and I recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in French and German. Before university, I studied French (A*), German (A*), and Art (A*) A-Level. I was awarded the H. G. Abel Prize for outstanding A-Levels, as well as multiple Governor’s Awards for academic achievements and engagement with learning during secondary school.
Alongside my studies, I have experience as an English teaching assistant at a secondary school in Germany, where I supported students with English language acquisition and confidence in spoken expression. During this time, I found that incorporating cultural references, like films, books, and music, made the process more enjoyable and effective. I now use this immersive approach to help students learn English in a more engaging and impactful way. It was a rewarding experience, and I felt as though I was truly able to equip my students with a new sense of confidence in their abilities.
My approach to tutoring is highly personalised, combining traditional methods like vocabulary tests, grammar exercises, and structured practice with engaging ways to learn through culture, to keep lessons dynamic and help you use the language in real-world contexts. My lessons are tailored to individual goals and levels, to help my students gain confidence, improve their skills, and ultimately enjoy learning.
